Y-DNA Detail With a 12/12 match to all of "clump 1" and Martin (F-1) in particular, this result, even at 12 markers, goes a long way to "proving" both that John in New York, son of "a Walter of Roxburghshire", is the son of Walter and Agnes, AND that Martin's Archibald belongs where naming patterns placed him, as brother to the above Walter.
GeneticDistance (Testee12Markers) At 12 markers the theoretical Genetic Distance (GD) calculations from Michael show: zero to Martin, Doug(BLAKEY), Earl, Roy and William (FTDNA's Time Predictor currently calculates that for exact matches at 12 markers, the probability of a shared common ancestor in 6 generations is 45%, 70% by 12); 1 to Joe, David(CAMPBELL), Doug(GOODFELLOW), Tom, David(TROTTER) and ; (so it looks like we've finally proved that Walter and Agnes had a son John who emigrated to Delaware Co, NY, and pending the results from more markers, that Martin's Archibald is even more highly likely to belong where naming patterns placed him, as brother to the above Walter).
GeneticDistance (Testee25Markers) At 25 markers the theoretical Genetic Distance (GD) calculations from Michael show: zero to Martin, Earl and Roy (FTDNA's Time Predictor currently calculates that for exact matches at 25 markers, the probability of a shared common ancestor in 6 generations is 45%, 70% by 12); 1 to Doug(BLAKEY), William, Joe, David(CAMPBELL), Doug(GOODFELLOW), Tom and David(TROTTER); 2 to (F-8); ie an exact match to "clump 1", and a close match to "clump 2", with the panel of most interest yet to come.
GeneticDistance (Testee37Markers) At 37 markers the theoretical Genetic Distance (GD) calculations from Michael show: 1 to Martin and Doug(BLAKEY); 2 to Earl and Roy; 3 to David(CAMPBELL); 4 to William, Doug(GOODFELLOW), Tom and Ron; 5 to Joe and John(JOHNSTON); 7 to David(TROTTER) and .
GeneticDistance (Testee67Markers) At 67 markers the theoretical Genetic Distance (GD) calculations from Michael show: 1 to Doug(BLAKEY); 2 to Earl and Roy; 3 to Martin; 4 to William; 7 to David(CAMPBELL) and Joe; 9 to ; more than 9 to Doug(GOODFELLOW) and Tom (with some of the mis-matches on faster mutating markers and thus reducing the stated GD; This is a rather fascinating jumble when compared to the 37 marker GDs as it shows that theorectically Martin has slipped further away than Earl and Roy and William has jumped back up showing closer than David (Campbell). At least this result is expected given the "Hoquiam triangle" knowledge linking William's family to Roy's.
