Doug Fairbairn (F-14)
#1453
| Father | Robert Huston Fairbairn (Aug 1894 - Oct 1937) |
| Mother | Janet Ann McKee (Jan 1893 - Dec 1969) |
| Y-DNA Detail | Only Doug & Michael (F-16), of all of lineage 1, have 576 = 18 (r), and only Doug has 449 = 29 (C) , so the former is assumed to define the line of Archibald and Alison (CROSSER), whose known and believed descendants all share CDYa=36. The latter, 449=29, is believed to signify the line of their son Archibald who married Janet (SCOTT). Not sure yet how Martin (F-1)'s results should therefore be interpreted in conjunction with this, as although he also has CDYa=36 along with only Doug and Michael over all of Lineage 1, he shares the other two markers with the modal for "clump 1" rather than with his paper trail 3rd cousin once removed, Doug. |
| Lineage (Testee) | Doug was found to be part of Fairbairn Lineage 1 "clump 1", see here for chart. |

| GeneticDistance (Testee) | At 12 markers the theoretical Genetic Distance (GD) calculations from Doug show: zero to Martin, Earl, Roy and William; 1 to Joe, Doug, David, David, (F-8) and Tom; (which goes a long way to prove a theory of where Doug's forbear Archibald "fits"). |
| GeneticDistance (Testee) | At 37 markers the theoretical Genetic Distance (GD) calculations from Doug show: 1 to Michael; 2 to Martin; 3 to Earl and Roy; 4 to David(CAMPBELL); 5 to William, Tom and Doug(GOODFELLOW); 6 to John(JOHNSTON) and Joe; 8 to David(TROTTER) and (F-8); (the "official" GD values overstate the distance between participants as two of the markers that differ are faster mutating ones and ONLY Doug has them over all of Lineage 1, so they have to be specific to the children of Archibald and Jane (BLAKEY). In effect that means Martin F-1 is still an exact match). |
| GeneticDistance (Testee67Markers) | At 67 markers the theoretical Genetic Distance (GD) calculations from Doug show: 3 to Earl and Roy; 4 to Martin; 5 to William; 8 to David(CAMPBELL); more than 9 to (F-8), Doug(GOODFELLOW) and Tom (with some of the mis-matches on faster mutating markers and thus reducing the stated GD; (which I'll have to think about the implications of given Martin (F-1) should be the closer match. Interesting that marker 534 = 18 as per several of "clump 1" although Martin has 17 which is more aligned with "clump 2"). However, the usual comment about the theoretical GDs applies, they are theory only, with no paper trail to draw on. |
