| Lineage (ConfirmedPaperTrail) |
The research paper trail for John, confirmed by dna testing, shows him to be part of Fairbairn Lineage 1f. (See here for chart.) |

| GeneticDistance (Testee12Markers) |
At 12 markers the theoretical Genetic Distance (GD) calculations from John show: 1 to Doug(GOODFELLOW), David(TROTTER), (F-8), David(CAMPBELL), Joe, Mike(IRWIN) and Tom; 2 to Earl, Roy, William, Michael, Doug(BLAKEY) and Martin; ie belonging to "clump 2" of lineage 1, and being the only one in all of Lineage 1 to have marker 389-2 as 30. At 25 markers these GDs change only for those with different results for a marker signifying their line alone - (F-8), Doug (F-14) and William (F-12) all slip by one. |
| GeneticDistance (Testee37Markers) |
At 37 markers the theoretical Genetic Distance (GD) calculations from John show: 2 to David(CAMPBELL); 3 to Ron, Doug(GOODFELLOW), Tom and Mike(IRWIN); 4 to Joe and Martin; 5 to Earl, Roy and Michael; 6 to Doug(BLAKEY), David(TROTTER) and ; 7 to William; the results showing an excellent match to the modal, with markers 389-2 = 30 and CDYa = 39 looking as if they will signify this particular lineage. |
| GeneticDistance (Testee67Markers) |
At 67 markers the theoretical Genetic Distance (GD) calculations from John show: 3 to Mike(IRWIN); 4 to Joe and David(CAMPBELL); 6 to David(TROTTER), and Martin; 7 to Doug(GOODFELLOW), Earl, Roy and Michael; 8 to Doug(BLAKEY); 9 to William and Tom; two of these differences are values that only John(F-17) has for all of lineage 1 and can probably be taken as representative of the line of John and Jessie (Johnston) Fairbairn; (389-2 = 30 instead of the 29 everyone else has; CDYb=39, where the modal value is 38, although as a faster mutating marker this latter does show more variation within the lineage) NB although Joe (F-10) is shown as GD4, two of those differences are on the one marker, CDYb, some calculations would therefore say they were GD3 instead. |
