John Fairbairn *

#4381, b. cir. 1772, d. Jul 1824

Father-AssmdJames Fairbairn ** (cir. 1720 - Oct 1808); relationship unproven, but both have a connection to Hallyburton, and, unlike the other contenders for John's parents, a Patrick and Margaret (Purves), there is evidence that a couple by the name of James and Elizabeth (Purves) Fairbairn did exist
Mother-AssmdElizabeth Purves (1732 - 1808)
Father-AltPatrick Fairbairn (say 1750 - )
Mother-AltMargaret Purves (say 1750 - )

Note (ParentAlternate) Patrick Fairbairn is an alternate father for John Fairbairn *
An uncorroborated extract from Burke's Colonial Gentry, (1970) shows John's parents as Patrick and Margaret (Purves) Fairbairn, which I strongly suspect is a mixture of Jessie's parents and John's, given Jessie's death cert. shows hers as a Patrick and Margaret (Johnston) Johnston, and his look more likely to be James and Elizabeth (Purves) Fairbairn.
Recruit (AnotherWanted) The project would like to recruit another representative of this line.
How does this family relate to the others?
Descendants seem to have populated, or at least travelled to, many parts of the world: the Rev Patrick's extended family could be found in British Guiana, Canada, Africa and New Zealand (at least); George's in Australia, South Africa and England; John a Minister in Greenlaw, Berwickshire.
We now have a representative from the line of the Rev. Patrick FAIRBAIRN, however another from one of his brothers would be very useful in order to get a good confirmation of John's dna signature. Candidates do seem a little in short supply however, as most branches appear to have "daughtered out", hence the restricted descendancy chart.

Birth He was born cir. 1772.
Marriage He married Jessie Johnston, daughter of Patrick Johnston and Margaret Johnston, Dec 1802 Edrom, Berwickshire, SCT, IGI has 27 Nov (Greenlaw), 9 Dec (Edrom); The Edrom entry reads: John Fairbairn in the Parish of Greenlaw and Jessy Johnston in this Parish were married.
Death John Fairbairn * died Jul 1824 Hallyburton, Greenlaw, Berwickshire, SCT.
Burial He was buried Jul 1824 Greenlaw, Berwickshire, SCT, Entry for 28th July: "Mr John Fairbairn, Halliburton" (Greenlaw headstone shows John as tenant in Hallyburton died 25.7.1824 aged 52 years, Jessie Johnston, relict of John Fairbairn tenant in Hallyburton died 24.9.1861 aged 80 years, although this latter is one month out, her death being 24th August and registered 28th August at Greenlaw).
Y-DNA Detail John's dna signature has been "corrected" to remove those values that descendant (F-17) alone of lineage 1 has (389-2 = 30 (D) corrected to 29 (C); CDYb = 39(M) corrected to 38 (L)). In addition, John's assumed father James has also been linked up to the theoretical Lineage 2 progenitor. At GD 4 between F-17 and David (Campbell) F-9 and Joe (F-10) this is within the 66% to 80% probability range of 10 to 12 generations shown by Family Tree DNA's Time Predictor.
