| Intro | Family rumour for the William (who married Jean Wanless) is that he had a brother Thomas. Both William and Thomas, the patriarch of this line, worked on the Rideau canal in the early 1800s, but that's the nearest to documented evidence of a connection to date. Preliminary dna results showed an 11/12 match between two of their descendants, which looked promising, but at 67 markers the relationship looks as though their shared common ancestor is rather more distant, and at 67 markers, a descendant of Thomas is showing as an excellent match with a descendant of Trotter Fairbairn. |
| Birth | Thomas Fairbairn ** was born cir. 1790 Gordon, Berwickshire, SCT. |
| Marriage | He married Elspeth Redpath Dec 1807 Edinburgh, Midlothian, SCT. |
| Researcher (Progenitor) | Thomas's line is being researched by Patty Brown. (See Montreal Fairbairns) Email: Patty (email current as at Dec 2008). |
| Y-DNA Detail | Thomas has been given a theoretical dna signature which "corrects" descendant F-8-s identifying signature values back to the modal values they may well have had: namely 454 from 21 to 22, cdyb from 36 to 38. |
