Edward Fairbairn **
(cir. 1728 - Aug 1811)
Recruit(Wanted) | The project would like to recruit a representative of this line. Edward is the earliest documented member of the line of Ednam blacksmiths. Possibly the earlier "stone in Ednam" references on the pedigree held in the Scottish Genealogy Society (SGS) documented further generations into the past, but it currently rather looks like we'll never know what the earlier stones actually said. I would assume that there was at least a John 1585-1645 son of John, possibly with a son Robert born around 1611. And a Robert 1662-1697 son of John. There would have to be an interventing generation to get to an Edward born around 1728. From naming pattern alone, I would expect Edward's parents to be a William and Elizabeth (assuming all children are known). Robert isn't a forename that features in Edward's descendants, so this is all pure conjecture. The pedigree as given in the SGS file is also documented on the Fairbairn DNA Project Patriarch's page along with some alternatives for the data shown. NB in 1714 an Edward Fairbairn stood cautioner for the groom at a Stitchell marriage of a couple who were of Ednam. |
