Your Caithness Project Needs YOU

Caithness lines of particular interest are either to corroborate a Y-DNA signature for BAIN, McADIE and MANSON, or to obtain a representative of the GRAY, GEORGESON, SINCLAIR and TAYLOR lines shown in my Caithness Ancestry pedigree chart on my personal Family tree pages

Either initial representatives, or distant cousins of existing representatives, of all/most of the families listed there are still required.

Eligible males who can document their descent from those listed here would be most welcome to join their appropriate surname project.
A subsidy may be available up to 37 markers for particular lines, although please note that the preferred test is 67 markers.

But Y-DNA only catches the direct male lines of the families concerned.
These days all descendants can participate in the fun of exploring which ancestor gave us which bit of dna and finding new connections.
As well, of course, as finding further corroboration of our papertrails.

If you have tested your autosomal dna from any of the three main companies:
  • FamilyFinder from FamilyTreeDNA (using the link gives WikiTree.com a small contribution, which is to be encouraged)
  • 23andme
  • Ancestry.com
Do please transfer your atDNA raw data file to GEDMatch.com (and give them a donation for their wonderful service) where comparisons can be made across companies, more relativies identified, and specific dna segments identified.
Also consider uploading at least your direct pedigree to WikiTree, connecting to any pedigrees already there, and adding which dna test(s) you have taken to your profile to maximise the benefit of their great DNA links.
