Although there is still definitely a close relationship between William of Crail & Thomas of Innerwick, William's father is now definitely known to be the Richard who brought up his orphaned children.
But which one?
Current favourite is the Richard married to Jennet GOURLAY, whose son Richard was baptized 1729, borderline for his first marriage in 1748, but not impossible. Doubt may also be cast on this id as wife Catherine would then be 8 years older than he. Again, unusual, but not impossible.
