WebIntro | The info from the Wellington County Ontario archives Fairbairn file describes William as "schoolmaster Calashieldis, wife from Ednam" Comment: William and Margaret (Thomson) do indeed have Ednam connections. The William who married Margaret Thomson was a blacksmith there, and is commemorated on a headstone at Ednam, along with his parents Edward and Jane (Davidson) and next door to his son Edward (married Jane Broomfield). He was baptized at Eccles in Jul 1754, and died 1817. William son of John and Helen (Anderson) Fairbairn, was baptised at Smailholm Apr 1756, and was schoolmaster of Bowden then Galashiels, died March 1810 (and was married to Magaret Scott). For outline pedigrees of these two separate families, see the Ednam smiths, and John and Helen (Anderson) Fairbairn on the project summary pages. |
