| Intro | The Wellington County, Ontario archive file (deposited prior to 1994 by a descendent of John's, the late Nora Carlaw) says: "John came to Canada in 1815, lived in Grenville, Quebec, the Hawkesbury Mills, Ontario. He was a mercer. He was killed when he was thrown from a horse." Comment: SeeJohn or David who married Jane Williamson, in Grenville and Farrelton, brother to William, married to Jean Wanless. Apart from the mercer for miller, and parentage, this is accurate by place and timeframe, as Jane Fairbairn nee Williamson is a widow in 1851 in Hawkesbury. Also note that the 1863 death certificate of the John Fairbairn who died in Inverkip Village, Renfrew, Scotland states he was a forrester, son of John Fairbairn and Elizabeth Yule (no wife shown for the widowed John, but he was with a Julian Boak in 1841). |
