MarriageHe married Barbara Kirton 28 Dec 1709 Roxburgh, Roxburghshire, Scotland
After all these years, we now know that Thomas and William are indeed genetically related.
A descendant of each has now tested, and both are predicted as haplogroup G-M201.
At 37 markers, they are a Genetic Distance of 3 apart, all differences being on faster mutation markers.
It is interesting to note that William' descendants became known as Hamilton rather than Familton - and the G haplogroup in the Hamilton Y-DNA project contains all of three members (out of 580 as at Jun 2015) in the G haplogroup, none known to be related to each other.
As yet no autosomal dna matches have been identified between FAMILTON descendants, but that's the next challenge.
Researcher(Progenitor)Thomas's line is being researched by Jennifer Familton. Familtons of Ancrum; Jennifer would love to find out if they are related to those of Earlston, and of Northumberland.
