(cir. 1790 - )
WebIntro | Family rumour for the William (who married Jean Wanless) is that he had a brother Thomas. Both William and Thomas, the patriarch of this line, worked on the Rideau canal in the early 1800s, but that's the nearest to documented evidence of a connection to date. Preliminary dna results showed an 11/12 match between two of their descendants, which looked promising, but at 67 markers the relationship looks as though their shared common ancestor is rather more distant, and at 67 markers, a descendant of Thomas is showing as an excellent match with a descendant of Trotter Fairbairn. |
Birth | Thomas Fairbairn ** was born cir. 1790 Gordon, Berwickshire, Scotland . |
Marriage | He married Elspeth Redpath 18 Dec 1807 Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland . |
Y-DNA Detail | Patrick(F-8), descendant of Thomas, is unique over all of lineage 1 in having 447 = 21 (u), all others currently (Dec 2010) having the modal value of 22 (v). Likewise he has a CDYb of 36(J) instead of the modal of 38(L) but this marker is much more variable across the lineage, presumably because it is a faster mutating one. |
