On this page you will find:

- Theoretical Lineage 1 DNA "Signature" for "clump 2"
Where relationships are known, the charts are easy to compile, however we are also trying to posit how the obviously related lines do connect up, logically, particularly where there is no paper trail.
The dna evidence to date isn't yet sufficient to decide whether the branching between "clump 1" and "clump 2" is before or after John and Bessie (fflint), or at least it was looking like it was earlier than them until Joe (F-10) came along and crossed the boundaries between the two, particularly when you add in the family stories.
John & Bessie (fflint) FAIRBAIRN:
Their lineage is currently assumed to be defined by markers:
391 = 9 (l) and 520 = 21(u)
In addition it looks like the particular line of Robert and Agnes (LANDRETH) FAIRBAIRN may be typified by CDYa=37 (K).
Interesting to see that the sub-lineage of Archibald and Janet (SCOTT) FAIRBAIRN branches, with one line, that of Martin (F-1), having marker 534 = 10 (q) , and another, Doug (F-14), having markers 576 = 18 (r) and 449 = 29 (C), all of which differences are unique over all of Lineage 1

The latter, 449=29, is believed to signify the line of their son Archibald who married Janet (SCOTT). The participants, and therefore patriarchs, included in this portion of the "clump 2" lineage were chosen because some genealogies show the George, who married Janet MURRAY, and the Robert, who married Margaret PATERSON, as related, albeit many have patently incorrect dates for George. Trotter, who married Jean FAIRBAIRN, was included once David (F-7)'s 67 marker results showed him as a GD of 2 from (F-8), one difference of which is a unique value for 447 over all of lineage 1.
(F-17)'s 67 marker results show that the family of John and Jessie (JOHNSTON) FAIRBAIRN should also now be included.
Once the known patriarchs' John's, Thomas' , James' and Robert's dna signatures are "corrected" for the markers descendants exhibit as signifying their line alone, outside the modal values, this relationship may well be something like reality.
Tested against the probabilities given by the Family Tree DNA Time Predictor, it looks optimistic as (F-8) and Doug (F-6) only show a 48% probability that their shared ancestor is within 8 generations. However that is pure theory, and has none of the background from the overall project which is showing that Lineage 1 are all clearly related to a greater or lesser extent.
At 67 markers with a theoretical GD of 7 between (F-8) and Doug (F-6), we can remove several of the differences when worked back 4 generations to the respective patrarchs, Thomas and James.
Of the 7, 1 one comes from marker 447 of 21 (u) for (F-8) alone over all of Lineage 1, so Thomas has been assigned the modal of 447 = 22 (v).
Similarly marker CDYb shows James's (GOODFELLOW) line has the Lineage 1 modal of 38 (L) and (F-8) alone of Lineage 1 has 36 (J), so Thomas has been assigned CDYb = 38 (L).
For James, his derived signature also removes the difference between Doug (F-6)'s 534 = 17 (q) and Tom (F-13)'s 534 = 19 (s) by assigning James the more common 17.
For Robert, his derived signature sets 460 back to the modal 10 (j) from Joe (F-10)'s 11 (k), which brings the GD from Joe (F-10) to both (F-8) and David (F-9) down to GD 3.
For John, the derived signature sets (F-17)'s 391-2 of 30 (D) back to the modal 29 (C), and the faster mutating marker CDYb = 39 (M) to the modal 38 (L).
In addition, David (F-9)'s patriarch John has had David's unique value for marker 534 "corrected" back to 17 (q) from David's 16 (p) as that is assumed to signify David's line.
