Archibald Fairbairn

(cir. Jan 1783 - bet. 1841 - 1851)
Assumed fatherArchibald Fairbairn * (say 1760 - bet. 1800 - 1841); relationship assumed from naming pattern of children, and the presence of the 1783 baptism in Whitsome and Hilton of an Archibald, son of an Archibald (no mother's name given)
Assumed motherAlison Crosser (say 1760 - bet. 1800 - 1841)
WebIntroThe family of Archibald Fairbairn and Jane Blakey emigrated from Northumberland to Ontario about 1851/3. Archibald's birthplace varies between Durham and Scotland, with the majority of sources saying Scotland around 1813. The 1841 English census shows him as a blacksmith, born Scotland, and his marriage cert. says his father was an Archibald Fairbairn, gardener. The prime candidate for this latter Archibald was the one married to Janet Scott, whose son Archibald was baptised St Boswells 1813. This Archibald Snr is the forebear of Martin (F-1), so if this theory is true, then two dna participants should prove to be an excellent match. At 12 markers so far, this indeed looks to be the case.
All we need now is a representative from a proven line down from Archibald and Alison (Crosser) Fairbairn to fully confirm the assumed linkage of the Archibald married to Janet Scott as their son.

Y-DNA DetailDescendants of two sons have unique values (over all of lineage 1) that must therefore define the lines of son Archibald: 576 = 18 (r) & 449 = 29 (C); and John: 641 = 10 (j); Taking this into account Archibald himself can be assumed to have 576 = 17 (q) and 449 = 28 (B), 641 = 11 (k) and 534 = 18 (r.)
