This subsection of Lineage 1 contains all those with marker 391 = 9 and/or 520 = 21 (as opposed to 391 = 10 and 520 = 20 for the majority of those tested so far in haplogroup I1).
Or at least it did so until a matching FARRIS line turned up (Aug 2013).
They have been assigned to this lineage 1e on the strength of marker 520 = 21, even though they have 391 = 10.
As the FARRIS representatives also closely match the Lineage 1 modal, having 391 = 10, possibly their line is an early divider of the lineage, earlier than those with 391 = 9?

Family rumour for the William (who married Jean Wanless) is that he had a brother Thomas.
Both William, and Thomas the patriarch of this line, worked on the Rideau canal in the early 1800s, but that's the nearest to documented evidence of a connection to date.
Results show that although Roy(F-3) and Patrick(F-8) are highly likely to share a common ancestor, the relationship is much futher back, William's line belonging to Lineage 1e instead.
